The Michelin Pilot Sport S 5 is Michelin's current-generation ultra-high-performance summer tire, co-developed with supercar and EV manufacturers including Corvette, Ferrari, Lucid, Mercedes-AMG, Porsche, and Tesla as factory-fit equipment for their halo models. It succeeds the Pilot Sport 4S — a two-time winner of evo magazine's annual performance-tire test — and is built to carry that reputation forward with a Dual Sport Tread Design and Bi-Compound Technology: a racing-derived outer compound for maximum dry and track grip, paired with an inner compound and large longitudinal grooves tuned for wet-road traction. A hybrid aramid-and-nylon belt and an updated bead design work together under Michelin's Dynamic Response Technology to transmit steering inputs to the road with minimal delay, for sharp, predictable turn-in. Select sizes are available with Michelin Acoustic Technology (MAT), a foam layer bonded inside the tire that quiets road noise for a calmer cabin between track days.
