Bridgestone Winter Tires Canada 2026: Blizzak IcePeak Is Here (+ $100 Rebate)

Bridgestone's Blizzak line has been the most trusted premium winter tire in Canada for over two decades. This fall, they've done something significant: replaced two of their best-selling models — the WS90 and the DM-V2 — with a single unified tire called the Blizzak IcePeak. It's the biggest product change Bridgestone has made to their winter lineup in years, and it's worth understanding what it means for Canadian buyers.

$100 rebate running now. Buy Blizzak IcePeak tires between September 15 and December 7, 2026 and receive a $100 Visa prepaid card. Claim online only at tirepromos.com/en/dttire. One claim per household.

The New Flagship: Blizzak IcePeak

Launched in May 2026, the IcePeak is Bridgestone's most significant Blizzak update in recent memory. The headline: it replaces both the WS90 (passenger/car) and the DM-V2 (SUV/truck) with one line that covers the full spectrum — sedans, minivans, CUVs, SUVs, and light trucks — across 107 sizes from 14" to 22".

That's a deliberate consolidation. Bridgestone's reasoning is straightforward: the line between "passenger car tire" and "SUV tire" has blurred as CUVs became the dominant vehicle type. One tire built to handle both makes more sense than maintaining two separate product lines.

What's new in the IcePeak

ENLITEN technology is the platform-level change. It's Bridgestone's compound and construction optimization system that reduces rolling resistance and extends wear life without sacrificing winter grip. This is meaningful because previous Blizzak generations wore out relatively quickly — the aggressive MultiCell compound that made them grip ice so well didn't last. The IcePeak addresses that directly.

MultiCell compound returns, but refined. The microscopic pores in the tread compound absorb the thin water film that forms on ice surfaces, allowing rubber-to-ice contact instead of rubber-to-water contact. It's the same fundamental technology that made the WS90 the top-rated winter tire in braking tests for years. The IcePeak advances the formula.

Dual certification is the spec worth noting. The IcePeak is the first Bridgestone tire to earn both the Three-Peak Mountain Snowflake (3PMSF) and the Ice Grip certification simultaneously. These are different tests — 3PMSF measures snow traction, Ice Grip specifically measures ice stopping distance. Holding both means the IcePeak has been independently verified to perform in the two most demanding Canadian winter conditions.

Who is this tire for? Anyone who was previously buying a WS90 for their car or a DM-V2 for their truck or SUV. It is the current Bridgestone winter tire. If you're buying Bridgestone winters right now, this is the one.

The Full Bridgestone Winter Lineup

Blizzak WS90Passenger/carUp to 18"Being discontinued — clearout
Blizzak DM-V2SUV/truck16"–22"Being discontinued — clearout

Blizzak WS90

The WS90 has been the gold standard for passenger car winter tires for several seasons. Consumer Reports and Tire Rack consistently ranked it at the top of their winter tire tests, particularly for ice braking. It's being phased out as the IcePeak takes over, which means clearout pricing is starting to appear.

If you find WS90 in your size at a significantly reduced price, it's still an excellent tire — it just isn't the new product. For many buyers this winter, it represents an opportunity: proven performance at a lower price than IcePeak retail.

Blizzak DM-V2

Same story for truck and SUV owners. The DM-V2 has been the safe default for half-ton and SUV owners who wanted a Blizzak. It's being replaced by the IcePeak, and clearout pricing on remaining inventory is expected. If your priority is cost-per-season and your size is still available, DM-V2 at clearout is worth considering.

Which Bridgestone Winter Is Right for You?

Buy the Blizzak IcePeak if:

  • You want the current, most advanced Bridgestone winter tire
  • You're buying for a CUV or SUV (this is now the designated replacement for the DM-V2)
  • You want the tire eligible for the $100 rebate
  • Tread life matters — the ENLITEN compound lasts longer than previous Blizzaks

Buy the WS90 or DM-V2 if:

  • Your size is available at clearout pricing and the discount is meaningful to you
  • You're equipping a second vehicle and want proven performance at a lower cost
  • You're comfortable with the understanding that parts availability will shrink over time

The WS90 and DM-V2 are not bad tires — they're retiring products being replaced by something better. The IcePeak is not a marginal improvement. It's a genuine generational update with better wear life and broader vehicle coverage.

Pricing Comparison: Blizzak IcePeak vs. Competitors

Prices are in Canadian dollars for representative sizes as of September 2026. Exact pricing varies by retailer and size.

Winter TirePassenger (~215/60R16)SUV (~225/65R17)
Bridgestone Blizzak IcePeak~$195–$215~$210–$235
Michelin X-Ice Snow+~$200–$225~$220–$245
Continental VikingContact 8~$180–$200~$195–$220
Haida HD617~$62–$85~$75–$100

At the premium tier, the IcePeak, X-Ice Snow+, and VikingContact 8 are priced closely. The $100 rebate — applied per purchase, not per tire — brings the IcePeak's effective set-of-four cost down to a compelling position relative to the competition.

For buyers where budget is the primary concern, the Haida HD617 is in a different category entirely. It's not going to match the IcePeak on ice braking performance, but it's a certified 3PMSF winter tire at a fraction of the price. We sell both, and the right answer depends on your priorities.
